Our new digs…

Well, we’ve been quite busy at the studio lately! Not only have we been busy planning some of Tampa Bay’s best events, but we’re also getting acclimated to our fantastic new office on Bay to Bay Blvd in South Tampa. Although we’ve technically been here since late July, we’ve finally gotten around to putting the finishing touches and it’s starting to feel like home.

Our new location offers a central location and a lot more space, perfect for consultations and meetings with clients, and for our fantastic hard-working team!

We have to give special thanks to our interior designer, Lisa Berardo of Collective Construction & Interiors, as well as one of our favorite photographers, Abby Griffith of A.griff Designs.

Michael’s “World of Sports” Bar Mitzvah

The Elan Team loves Mitzvahs, and Michael’s “World of Sports” themed party was no exception.

The ballroom at Pepin was decked out with colorful balloons and sporty centerpieces including; basketball, swimming, volleyball, and more! Our friends at I Have a Balloon turned the children’s area into a realistic soccer scene—complete with the silhouette of a crowd and rowdy soccer moms! Other special touches to this Mitzvah included a handcrafted “Concessions” sign for the kids buffet and lockers (which acted as storage for gifts and an untraditional sign-in board).

This energetic event was full of dancing and games. A big thanks to our vendors for making this Bar Mitzvah a grand slam!

Lindsay & Branden’s Wedding

We would love to introduce one of our newest couples, Lindsay & Branden! The two – surrounded by friends and family – tied the knot during a beautiful outdoor ceremony in May, perched high atop the Westin on Rocky Point. Guests witnessed the ceremony while overlooking scenic views of Tampa Bay and the surrounding areas.

Following their “I Do’s”, the new couple and their guests flocked to the Palma Ceia Country Club in South Tampa. Guests enjoyed scrumptious bites, tasty cocktails, and danced the night away!

Tampa Bridal Showcase- Recap

On September 18th Elan Event Studio hosted our 6th annual Tampa Bridal Showcase. This years event was held at the beautiful A La Carte Event Pavilion. We had the very best vendors in the Tampa Bay area as well as the best brides in attendance. With the help of our event sponsors and all the great vendors the event was a success.
The theme for this years showcase was Glam with black and hot pink mixed with a touch of vintage. Brides and their guests entered into the grand hall staged as a ‘cocktail hour’. Connie Duglin Linen provided the black eyelash pintuck and flamingo lamour table linens. The main ballroom featured over 60 vendors, a LED dance floor provided by Inspire Entertainment, an aerial performance by Breezin Entertainment, vintage lounge area by MMD Events, a first dance performance by Arthur Murray Dance Studio, beautiful black chaivari chairs by Signature Event Rentals and a collaborative fashion show by The White Closet Company, Bella Gente, Stella & Dot, Athena Montague Artistry and Darcy Greco. Tammy Levent of Elite Travel took the stage to announce the winning couple of the grand honeymoon prize winner. The winner received an all-inclusive trip to Rivera Dreams in Cancun.

Elan makes BIZBASH’s 10th Anniversary Issue!

If you’ve received the newest edition of BIZBASH Magazine, flip over to page 76 and check out the writeup on Monica & Elan! Both are featured in an article titled ‘Fresh Faces – The New Generation’. Columnist Lisa Cericola features “six up-and-coming event pros” whom she believes will shape and influence events over the next decade.

In particular, Cericola focuses on Elan’s transformation of the Kress Department Store building for the 2011 Gasparilla Int’l Film Festival’s Closing Night Party. “I like unexpected locations, like rooftops, abandoned buildings, empty storefronts”, says Monica Varner, owner and lead event planner.

The Kress Building, constructed in 1929, has essentially sat abandoned since the liquidation of the Kress brand in 1980/1981. With no running water or electricity, the team was required to bring in portable restroom trailers as well as generators to power the lighting and sound equipment.

Elan & the 48 Hour Film Project

It’s been quite a busy month over here at Elan! With so many fantastic events happening, one that we just have to share with you is the 48 Hour Film Project.

The basics? 27 teams comprised of filmmakers joined together and competed to write, film and edit a short film in its entirety – with a 48-hour deadline looming above their heads. Tampa Bay was chosen again one of the cities to host the international challenge, which locally took place over the last weekend of July 2011. We hosted the initial screenings of all films on August 3rd and 4th at the Muvico Centro Ybor, and will have the “Best of the Fest” screening coming up on August 31st. (The local winner is automatically screened at the 2012 Gasparilla Int’l Film Festival, and then goes on to compete for a slot at the upcoming Festivalde Cannes, aka the Cannes Film Festival!)

Our lead planner and owner, Monica Varner, co-produced the event along with Bryan Coward (of Tampa Wonderworks Films, a local videographer and previous competitor in the 48HFP).
